You matter to God. You matter to us.

Caring for one another in the name of Jesus Christ is at the heart of our ministry here at First Pres. This caring comes with many titles and faces to accompany but, at the center of it all, is the injunction from our Lord to be a caregiver in the manner of Jesus' own ministry. The pastors are open and available to speak with anyone wishing to be heard. Depending upon the need and urgency, a referral can also be made to a Stephen Minister, to the Pastoral Counseling Center, to a Deacon or an Elder, or to one of the local area social services.
First Pres is blessed with a generous care team with wide-ranging talents, ages, life experiences and abilities with which to be of assistance.

Weekday Pastors on Call

During the week, pastors are available on the following schedule:
Rev. Dr. Brian Paulson: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday
Rev. Amy Heinrich: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoon
Rev. Nicole Chapman-Farley: Monday-Thursday

Pastors will always be on the frontlines of care, especially during times of crisis.  But there are always many more needs for on-going, one-to-one care than pastors can effectively meet by themselves. Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who are trained and equipped to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

If you or a loved one are in the hospital, we would like to call on you. The hospital visitation team is made up of trained members of our congregation, as well as the pastoral staff.  They are committed to helping make your hospital stay a little easier and sharing God's love with you in your time of need. During the brief visit, please feel free to share any prayer concerns or other needs you may have with them. If you know ahead of time you will be in the hospital, please let the office know.  They will be sure the hospital team knows you are there.

Prayer Requests. We’re Praying for You. You’re invited to share a prayer request in advance of our Monday Morning Prayer each week at 847-362-2174 or contact the office .

The power of prayer is something to behold through which God strengthens, encourages, inspires and helps us keep the faith that is otherwise challenged by our sinful nature and the cares of the world.

At First Pres, we have prayer chains that you can avail of when facing life challenges of health, job displacement, financial or family issues, broken relationships or losing loved ones. We  stand in the gap for you and bring concerns to God’s throne of grace with the boldness of faith as we wait for God’s answers.

If you have prayer concerns and requests or if If you wish to become a member of the Prayer Chains, please contact us using the information below:

The Caregiver Support Group is a safe, supportive and confidential place to share your concerns, ask questions and seek guidance both for your loved ones and for yourself.

This group is open to all who are caring for someone with Alzheimer's/Dementia as well as any chronic illness requiring extensive care, i.e. COPD, stroke, cancer, opioid/alcohol related illnesses, accident/trauma, etc. There are many in our congregation/community who are caring for loved ones and could benefit from support. Please consider inviting someone you know who could use that support to attend.

If you would like to join our private Facebook group, or participate in Zoom calls on the first and third Sundays of each month, please email Rosemary .
