FAITH & FELLOWSHIP

Learn how community, fellowship and service intertwine
as we seek to live as disciples of Christ.

Caregivers Support Group

The Caregivers Support Group meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month immediately following worship in Room 202 in the Education Wing.

Does your parent, spouse or loved one suffer from a chronic illness, or

dementia-related disease like Alzheimer’s?  Are you struggling with your role and

responsibility as a caregiver? You are not alone!  Join members of our church for

support, prayer and compassionate conversation. We do not shy away from tough topics and learn from each other as we share the care-giving journey together. Facilitated by Rosemary Monahan, a professional facilitator, and care-giver educator.

Centering Prayer Group

Every 2nd and 4th Thursday morning, 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. in the Spirituality Room 210.
Join us for Centering Prayer in order to …find simplicity, silence, & stillness.

Commu-KNIT-y of Faith

4th Wednesday, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm in Parlor.
Become part of a group of knitters who consider what community means while knitting for our congregation's missions. Our projects are easy, so if you can knit a scarf, you will be comfortable participating. If you knit even a bit and want a prayerful fellowship, this group could be the community for you.

Quilt Fellowship

 2nd & 3rd Mondays  9 a.m.-4 p.m.  Social Hall

The goal of Quilt Fellowship is to serve the church through the quilts we make. We present quilts to all families moving into Habitat for Humanity homes built in Lake County. We also support FPC missions by giving quilts to Heifer International and other church causes.  All skill levels are welcome any Monday and you may come and go as you wish.

Mom's Time Out

2nd & 4th Fridays  9-11 a.m.  Conference Room

Mom’s Time Out is a community of mothers of infants through school-age children.

Come and enjoy some adult conversation about faith and parenting while your children play in our free child care. Meets in Conference Room. In addition to face-to-face gatherings, MTO hosts a Closed Facebook page. We invite you to join the page to connect further with other First Pres moms.

Contemporary Literature
and the Life of Faith

2nd Saturday, 9:00 am to 11:00 am in Library
Come add your voice to a lively discussion of a short story that is related to the role of religion in the contemporary world.  Come once or often.  All are welcome!

Earth Care Team

4th Tuesdays, 7-9 p.m. in Room 207
As stewards of God’s earth, the Earth Care Team at First Pres implements initiatives that demonstrate our commitment to ecological best practices within our church, works to promote earth stewardship events, and focuses on faithful care of creation both in our worship and in our educational opportunities. New members are welcome!

God's Gardners

Tuesdays (Spring-Fall)  5:30 p.m. 1200 American Way, Libertyville
Grab your garden gloves and join us each week--from spring planting season through the fall harvest--at the Community CARE Garden, where we work with volunteers from other local churches to support Lake County food pantries. Last year we provided nearly 1,500 pounds of produce directly to our own Mobile Food Pantry. Contact Amy Scovill to join the email list for updates on the garden. Information on upcoming workdays can be found on the garden’s Facebook page (Community CARE Garden, the one with the beautiful sunflower profile picture), so please like us and/or follow us on FacebookWatch our video.

Inquirer's Class

Explore what Presbyterians believe, what is distinctive about our Reformed heritage, and why our church is governed the way it is.  This is a wonderful way to get to know our staff better and gain a deeper understanding for our priorities and passions, our ministries and missions.  If you are curious, this class is for you!

Our classes are designed for those who are seriously considering joining the church as active members, those who need a refresher course, and those who are searching and discovering God’s leading in their lives. If at the end of the inquiring process you want to become an active member, there are simply two requirements—professing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and baptism. We recognize all Christian baptisms. However, if you haven’t been baptized, a baptism date will be scheduled during a Sunday morning worship service.

Lunch Bunch

3rd Tuesdays, 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm in Fellowship Hall
Adults of all ages are invited to share table fellowship and enjoy an engaging program. Please reserve your lunch spot by the Friday before ($8.00 per person, payable at the door).

Parents of College Students
& Young Adults

Our children are adults now, but that doesn’t mean we stop parenting. Join other parents in the same stage of life for fun and fellowship as we gather for a variety of special events, service projects, and social activities that help build community as we embark on this chapter in our lives. Join our Facebook group and visit the church website for information about upcoming events, including our popular college care package events!
