COVID-19 UPDATE

Weekly Update (March 27, 2020)

Pastor Brian has posted a video update on our Facebook page and YouTube channel. You may access it here .

Things continue to change as the news swirls around us, but please know that we are working hard to keep our community connected as we continue to be the Church in these uncertain times.

How can you help in this effort?

Let us know how you’re doing:  We want to pray for you, to support you and to help you keep connected. Send us an email or leave a voicemail at 847-362-2174. Please make sure to “like” and “follow” our public Facebook page and take an extra moment to join our private First Pres Community Group . Posts to the First Pres Community Group are seen only by members and friends of our church and are intended to be a gathering space for all of us.

Participate in our new Community Groups : You will be receiving either a phone call or an email in the coming days from a Deacon or Elder, who will invite you to be part of one of our 15 new Community Groups designed to provide support and connection with fellow members.

To that end, please make sure we have your current email address and preferred phone number. We know many people no longer use their landlines and preferred email addresses also change. Please email to update your contact information.

Now, let’s talk about worship on Sunday morning : We’re gathering virtually online each Sunday morning at 10 a.m. for our online worship service. Please join us! The worship service is uploaded to our YouTube channel, and you'll be able to view to there, as well as on Facebook and on the home page of our website . Following worship, we will have a virtual coffee hour on Facebook and then have the opportunity to view a special Children’s Message.

Holy Week is coming up quickly and the pastoral staff is working closely with our musicians and other staff members to create meaningful worship experiences and an opportunity for at home communion at your own table. We will announce more details in the coming days.

Please don’t forget your Stewardship commitment:  It is times like the present that we are confronted by the fact that “we are all in this together.” It will be remembered as a time when the Church united to take care of one another and the community around it. Click the Give tab on our website to sign up for online giving. You can set payments for weekly, by-weekly, monthly, or even as a one time gift. If you prefer to give by check, you can still mail it to the church, although please know it may take a few extra days for the payment to be noted in your account.

A few housekeeping notes:

PADS is being held at a consolidated location in Gurnee during the stay-at-home order. If you’d like to help, click here for information on how to sign up.

Our building remains closed, but voicemails are being picked-up regularly and we are accessible by email.

The Music for Many Mission Fundraiser has been postponed to a later date. We look forward to celebrating the musical and artistic gifts of our congregation sometime this summer.

How to reach us when our building is closed:

Church office: Call 847-362-2174. Please leave a message and your call will be returned between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Email: (emails go to a member of the administrative team)

Pastoral Emergencies: Please call 847-367-6460 and leave a message. A pastor will return your call as soon as they are able.

Update (March 20, 2020)

In response to an order by the governor of Illinois and the advice of our medical professionals, the First Presbyterian Church of Libertyville is suspending all in-person gatherings—including all worship services and Holy Week events—until further notice.

The only exception will be to provide permissible and safe critical services to our neighbors in need (e.g. PADS and Mobile Food Pantry). We will continue to monitor recommendations from local and federal government for guidance regarding when it is safe to resume in person gatherings.

A wide range of planning for virtual collaboration, practical care, and spiritual guidance are underway and will be announced in coming days. Our Pastor will offer weekly video update messages with news and highlights of our community life together under these trying circumstances. Check our website and Facebook pages for details.

Finally, as we adapt our office processes to virtual collaboration, we want you to know your contributions are arriving by mail and electronically, however it may take about ten days before you will be able to view your contribution on your web link accounting of gifts. Thank you for your patience as we adapt to this changing situation.
